More than one hundred people turned out today for the first ever International Men’s Day event held at Lions Park on Friday, 29 November.
The event was to celebrate men and boys, aiming to start an important conversation about the social and health issues faced by many.
There was a free breakfast, ice baths, guest speakers and a walk around the lake. Thanks to Talk2MeBro, Flannery’s Pharmacy, CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes, Service NSW, Forbes Meals On Wheels and Carer Gateway.

It was a day to start important conversations about breast cancer and domestic violence.
It was also a day to raise funds for two important causes. A total of $680 raised, Thanks to all.
Forbes Shire Council invited Phil Donato MP and local equestrian groups to help officially open the brand new Multipurpose Equestrian Centre (MEC) on Tuesday 26 November
The MEC is designed to host all sorts of equestrian events, from pony club all the way to rodeos and campdrafts, and is expected to make Forbes a drawcard for equestrian groups right across NSW.
The project was funded by a $3.6 million grant from the NSW Government Office of Sport Multi Sport Community Facility Fund. It features an 80m x 60m covered sand arena, grandstand seating and road access for cars, floats and trucks

Forbes Youth Action Team hosted our annual Teddy Bears Picnic at Lions Park! It was a fantastic day filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of smiles.
It was wonderful to see so many faces come together to enjoy the beautiful weather and community spirit.

A huge congratulations to all of our winners from the Grilling and Smoking competitions held over Saturday and Sunday of the Championships.
There were 15 teams cooking off for $10,000 in prizes, including four local teams from Forbes, other teams travelled from as far as Brisbane and Adelaide.
The amazing aromas could be smelled all over town and it certainly drew the crowds in to Grinstead Oval where all the action was taking place.
FNPS had a very special visit from Josie Bailey, Relieving Executive Director Rural South and West and David Lloyd, Director Educational Leadership.
Students were very excited to welcome them both into their classrooms to showcase the amazing work happening in our rooms around explicit teaching.
They were also treated to an amazing performance by our Wiradjuri Choir.
Some great fun was had by students for the PBL celebration.
The theme was mufti and favourite sporting teams colours day.

The challenge was to design structures to protect `eggs’ from falls from various heights.
Students came up with some magnificent designs…some more successful than others.
